After two years off the road, the I Love the 90’s tour will return in May to arenas across North America with legendary 90s artists such as Vanilla Ice, 2 Live Crew, Tone Loc, Sir Mix-a-Lot, and Montell Jordan set to perform.
Jewel first made her mark with her debut folk-pop album Pieces of You in 1995 and since has released 11 more records while also becoming a wife and mother.
Billie Eilish is currently one of music’s hottest artists. At 19 years old from Los Angeles, the bedroom pop artist has won several significant awards in recent years and become one of the most talked about acts. Eilish’s chill electropop gems combine Portishead with Lana Del Rey, while Lorde’s wisdom-beyond-her-years is heard through Eilish’s songs as she tours her first arena and stadium headlining tour, Happier Than Ever World Tour, in 2022.
Tour dates kick off February 3 in New Orleans and continue across the South, Upper Midwest, and Eastern states until culminating in three shows at Madison Square Garden in late February. She will then head west with three nights at L.A.’s Forum on April 6, 8, and 9. Her tour concludes in Europe in June, with dates in Austria and Switzerland for her inaugural performances there.
Billie Eilish, in concert, is much livelier than her solemn recordings might imply. She plays her ukulele for an energetic yet faithful cover of Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” greeting her audience with youthful enthusiasm as her vocals shake with emotion just like on record.
Fans can register for the Billie Eilish presale through May 21st at 10 a.m. local time through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan platform, and tickets go on general sale May 26th at noon local time. The Backstreet Boys will bring their DNA World Tour to Nampa this August 19th, adding this stop to their 2022 schedule, which already features concerts across California, Canada, and Europe. Tickets are on sale now.
The Backstreet Boys recently embarked on their latest tour in support of their tenth album, DNA. One of the most successful bands of the 90s, they enjoyed global popularity and an extensive catalog of hits during this era. Although on hiatus since 2011, they maintain a large fan base and still tour regularly – their concerts becoming legendary due to pitch-perfect harmonies, matching outfits, and dreamy personas! Combined, the Backstreet Boys have sold over 130 million albums worldwide, making them the best-selling boy band ever.
In May 2019, the Backstreet Boys embarked on the DNA World Tour – their most extensive arena tour since 1998. Since its start, arenas across North America, Europe, and Asia have sold out, reflecting their ability to adapt their music to an ever-evolving pop landscape while captivating audiences of all ages.
BSB released their 13-track debut album DNA in November 2018, featuring guest appearances by some of the hottest contemporary artists. Their hit songs include I Want It That Way, Never Gone, and Black & Blue, and they have won multiple awards as well as being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their success has led them on a lucrative tour schedule along with high-profile television appearances.
Celine Dion’s voice matches her enormous personality, making her one of the biggest touring attractions in music. Her ’90s-era concert productions feature an immense, multi-tiered stage and orchestra, but what really amazes audiences are Dion’s incredible singing performances, which include goosebump-inducing vocal thrills that resonate throughout her sweeping choruses and provide spirit-lifting affirmations – and enough technical fireworks to outdo even Super Bowl halftime show halftime shows!
Dion first gained global fame when she won Switzerland’s entry at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest with her rendition of “Ne Partez Pas Sans Moi.” Though she continued releasing French albums, Unison marked Dion’s entry into pop superstardom with Billboard hits like “Have a Heart” and “Unison,” solidifying Dion as an international superstar.
In 2007, Celine Dion debuted her Taking Chances World Tour, a global arena tour that saw sold-out stadium shows as well as intimate club shows. Her two-hour show featured an expansive band and dance troupe and featured both classic hits as well as songs from her latest English album, Taking Chances.
Dion released her introspective set, Encore un Soir, as her follow-up album after touring and the Tour du Canada, becoming her first to top charts both here and in Canada. It featured original material by Dion as well as duets with Johnny Hallyday (“L’amour Peut Prendre Froid”), Jean-Pierre Ferland (“Une Chance Qu’on S’a”) and Henri Salvador (“Tant de Temps”). However, she suffered from persistent muscle spasms that forced multiple concert cancellations during 2022 for Courage World Tour, a multi-city tour featuring both classic hits and new material by Dion herself.
Christina Aguilera was one of the defining pop singers of the 90s, and this concert demonstrated her timeless appeal. Though her musical styles may have evolved through time, Christina Aguilera remains undeniable as an influence.
Aguilera began her career through local talent contests in suburban Pennsylvania before making an appearance on Disney’s rebooted Mickey Mouse Club show in 1992. Although Disney abandoned the project after only two seasons, Aguilera continued her acting and recording artist career, making appearances in Burlesque films as well as having one hit single released as part of Maroon 5’s hit “Moves Like Jagger.”
After her initial albums from her Stripped period, Aguilera gradually broadened her musical scope through contemporary dance and R&B influences. By the time of the release of Back to Basics, it was evident that Aguilera had evolved into one of the most established pop divas of her day; nonetheless, contemporary R&B would remain at the core of her work.
Touring act Aguilera requires a great deal of spectacle in her shows as a touring act, including steam and confetti cannons, mixed-gender dance troupe, steam cannons, and an assortment of eyewear that ranges from standard dark sunglasses to silver Cybertron shades and industrial welding goggles – including steam goggles!
At this performance, however, Aguilera reduced the spectacle to an absolute minimum, instead drawing from her vast back catalog to deliver an inspiring set. She opened with Ain’t No Other Man and showcased the incredible vocal runs that propelled her into stardom instantly. Aguilera then performed songs from La Fuerza, which demonstrated just how potency her voice remains in Spanish too.
There’s nothing quite as exhilarating as seeing your favorite musician perform live, reliving old songs while witnessing them perform live for you to experience it all first-hand. Many find the experience well worth their ticket cost when an artist performs at a stadium or arena setting.
Alanis Morissette has long straddled the line between raw and thoughtful lyrics. On her tenth studio album, The Storm Before the Calm, however, the singer opts to focus more on instrumental tracks than her previous jagged Little Pill lyricism; its blend of haunting vocals with sparse piano chords and electronic strings creates an enveloping sense of stillness.
On her eponymous album’s title track, singer Miley Cyrus explores the complexity of identity through hip-hop drums, melancholy strings, and buttery smooth guitar. The resultant combination creates an introspective yearning, which stands in stark contrast with her 2013 Bangerz album’s tabloid fodder. Her 2019 single Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie also captures this mood, reflecting her struggle after an ex-partner leaves.
Pavement’s early 1990s pop music scene staple seamlessly blended post-grunge production and Riot Grrrl punk sensibilities into an engaging hybrid form that epitomized punk rock angst. While never as aggressive as Nirvana or Sonic Youth, their music indeed represented that genre’s punk sensibility – in one high school newspaper feature about them, lead singer Stephen Malkmus was featured wearing lacrosse gear with headlines that read, ‘Athletics and punk rock occupy Malkmus’ time’ as his lyrics perfectly represented this youthful artist’s formative years within tracks such as Slanted and Enchanted.
